Pet-friendly budget places on the North Shore?

Any recommendations for budget accommodations along the North Shore and the Brainerd Lakes area that will accept large dogs? - Jack, White Bear Lake

If you click on "pet-friendly'' on the Lutsen-Tofte web site, www.americasnorthcoast.org/lodging, you get a list. I like Cascade Lodge and Solbakken, and Chateau LeVeaux has good rates.

Gunflint Lodge accepts dogs and can be reasonable if you share a cabin with friends or go in the shoulder season. And a lot of the mom-and-pop motels (anywhere hunters stay) take dogs.
