Where to milk cows in June?

Where can you try milking a cow in June? I know you can at some state fairs, but they're not till August. Thanks! - Marcie, Pasadena, Calif.

You could try the county fairs in Minnesota and Wisconsin.

The Hennepin County Fair is the third weekend of June in Corcoran, just northwest of Minneapolis.

In southwest Wisconsin, at the beginning of the famous Elroy-Sparta State Trail, Butterfest in Sparta includes a milking contest for amateur as well as professional teams. It's the second weekend in June.

Just across the Wisconsin border, Milk Days in Harvard, Ill., on the first weekend in June will give you an opportunity to milk cows.

Across Wisconsin, there are farm breakfasts at dairy farms, with free activities that often include milking. The large breakfasts usually are $5, $2 for children.

Or, just stay at a farm B&B. For more, see Farmers for a weekend.
