Where to snowmobile in Wisconsin?

We want to plan a snowmobile trip this winter. Two couples we are going with have their own machines. My wife and I are going to rent. Is Two Rivers a good place to snowmobile? What parts of Wisconsin get the most snow? - Robert, Johnson Creek, Wis.

You might be thinking of Eagle River, Wis., which calls itself the Snowmobile Capital of the World and holds the World Championship Snowmobile Derby in January. It's surrounded by Nicolet National Forest, which has hundreds of miles of trails, and there are several places to rent sleds.

The best snow in Wisconsin is in the northeast corner, in Vilas and Iron counties along the Upper Peninsula border. Sign up for the Wisconsin Snow Report and you'll get a weekly email on conditions.

The snow is not nearly as heavy or reliable around Two Rivers, which is warmed by Lake Michigan in winter. But the area does have nearly 500 miles of groomed snowmobile trails.
