Spring trip to Blue Mounds

I'm planning to visit Minnesota from March 18 to April 2. My question is: Do you think it is a good idea to travel from Minneapolis to Blue Mounds State Park in southwest Minnesota in spite the season/weather? Thank you - Susanne, Germany

There is never much going on in the Minnesota countryside in the weeks before and after Easter, but if the weather is nice, the trip might be fun.

If you are going to see the bison at Blue Mounds, you can see them much closer to the Twin Cities, in Minneopa State Park near Mankato.

If you are going to see Pipestone National Monument, that is interesting any time of the year.

Would you like to see a powwow when you are in the Twin Cities? There is one in St. Paul March 18-19.

My advice is to stay flexible and go if the weather is nice.

If it is bad, you could explore some of the parks and towns close to the Twin Cities. For more, see 10 great day trips from the Twin Cities.

Viel Spaß!
