Watching fireworks from a Duluth campground

Duluth sounds like a wonderful area to watch the fireworks. My family is going to be passing through during the 4th of July weekend, and I was wondering if you could tell me the best place to camp with pull through trailers. One is 31 feet and the other is 29 feet. We'd like to watch the fireworks from the campground, as we have children. Thank you. - Danielle

The Spirit Mountain campground should be a good place to watch the Duluth fireworks show, since it's on a high point in West Duluth. The sites are wooded, but you shouldn't have to go far to see fireworks: The campground is right off Skyline Parkway, which has the best views in the city.

For more, see Duluth's Skyline Parkway.

Another possibility is the Indian Point Campground. It's also in West Duluth, at the foot of Spirit Mountain, with sites on the St. Louis River.

For more, see Duluth's other waterfront.

If you're arriving from the south, West Duluth is a good way to enter Duluth this summer, because the I-35 Mega Project will cause big delays on I-35 entering the city. Check the DOT web site for updates before you go; if you can get off I-35 at the Midway Road exit, you can get right onto Skyline Parkway.
